A Gauri Shankar is a single naturally fused bead, so it is traditionally either strung on red or yellow thread to wear, or kept on the altar in a small copper dish. Handle it by the body rather than the joining ridge, keep it dry, and work in a trace of natural oil once or twice a year so the surface does not dry out.
